Students
Learn How to Work Together to Do Good, December 2007
|

|
In early December this group of students in George Brown’s Child and Youth Worker program
present almost $600 worth of toys and gifts to Jessie’s Centre for Teenagers – a downtown agency that helps teenage parents
and their children. The group raised the money by holding on-campus bake sales for three weeks in November. The project that helped
make a happier holiday season for the young families stemmed from a Group Dynamics class – the students were randomly assigned
to the group, which then had to work together to accomplish its goal. |

A
New Look for George Brown College
|
Along with the new school year comes a new look for George Brown College.
George
Brown College has unveiled a new logo (see photo) as part of the College's move to focus its brand identity. Over
the next few months the logo will be systematically applied to the existing materials that represent the college, facilitating a
progressive rather than abrupt transition. Ultimately an entire visual identity system will be rolled out so students will see a
new look in signage, college branded clothing and all things George Brown. This integrated look and positioning will remind the world
what George Brown College is all about - education that provides students with the sort of hands-on, industry connected training
they need to achieve the levels of excellence that will make them workplace-ready, in-demand graduates and the first choice of employers.

Making
the Connection - Technology Networking and Career
Fair on January 31st 2007
|

|
Story by: Dayna
Murray
Photos by: Malcolm
Forge
When HVAC students like Jerome
Mattison think about making connections, it
usually involves the soldering of copper pipes and fittings.
|
Last month, Mattison and
his classmates learned that the connections made outside
of College were as valuable as those made inside their labs
and classrooms. And, just as 3rd year Computer Systems students
were preparing for their final semester of networking assignments,
the term "networking" took on a whole new meaning.
On January 31st, 2007, George Brown hosted a record 44 companies
at the Technology Networking and Career Fair.
For many, it was their first opportunity to network and connect
with industry. [Read
