Student success in college requires well developed learning skills and attitudes (such as being able to work independently,
participate in a team, be well-organised, develop good work habits, and show initiative). These skills are as important as prior academic
achievement. Applicants should have thoroughly developed these skills and attitudes before beginning their college programs.
List of Courses
OUR PROGRAM
If you want to become a cook or chef, but time and money are concerns, this is the very best route for you. Our Culinary Management (Co-op Diploma Apprenticeship) program gives you a quick way to become a journeyperson (Red Seal) cook - and helps you save money as well!
In this new two-year program you will get:
- A Culinary Management diploma (on completion of all courses), plus Basic and Advanced in-school Apprenticeship certificates in the trade of cook
- Two 14-week Co-op placements in industry.
- While in your Co-op placement you can obtain sign-off towards your Red Seal eligibility.
- Instruction by expert chef faculty with an up-to-date curriculum and real-world facilities.
You get all this for the same tuition as our regular Culinary Management programs, plus $40 to register as an apprentice. You may even qualify for an
OSAP student loan to help pay your expenses.
You'll learn everything you need to know to succeed as a chef, cook or culinary manager. Demonstrations, lectures and hands-on practice will teach you
the skills you'll need for a successful career in today's high-end restaurants. And our integrated approach to learning includes placement in industry
apprenticeships, classroom study and self-directed learning.
You'll also become the kind of well-rounded graduate the industry is seeking through special-focus courses that will teach you about the computer applications
that are changing the culinary world and the interpersonal skills you'll need to build a successful career.
YOUR FUTURE STUDY OPTIONS
Students who successfully complete this program may be granted advanced standing at Johnson & Wales University (with campuses in Rhode Island, Florida, Colorado and North Carolina) and other leading international universities.
Graduates may be eligible for direct entry into the Food and Nutrition Management program, if they have taken an accounting
course, or the Culinary Arts - Italian programs.
