Student success in college requires well developed learning skills and attitudes (such as being able to work independently,
participate in a team, be well-organised, develop good work habits, and show initiative). These skills are as important as prior academic
achievement. Applicants should have thoroughly developed these skills and attitudes before beginning their college programs.
List of courses
OUR PROGRAM
This Distance Education program allows you to complete the courses (modules) required to receive an Electromechanical Technician certificate while studying
at home using an interactive learning package. The package consists of a CD-ROM or DVD containing 24 modules delivered using text, video, 2D and 3D animations,
colour photos, audio and hundreds of laboratory projects. Tests are taken at home using computer-based testing. Laboratory projects feature a laboratory
software simulation package. This interactive learning package allows you to complete all the modules, including lab projects and tests, using a computer
in the comfort of your own home.
You may enrol at any time during the year and complete the modules in the learning package at your own speed. Typical completion time is 34 weeks of
part-time study, but there are no time limits.
PREREQUISITES
Ontario Secondary School Diploma (with credits at or above general level) or equivalent or mature student status.
ADVANCED STANDING
If you have finished the Electronics Technician program, you are exempted from 18 modules of the Electromechanical Technician program. You may also
apply credits toward the PLC Technician program and the Robotics Technician program.
FEE
$55 per module, plus $280 for the CD-ROM or DVD (which includes all software and required materials). International applicants are charged the same
fees but in U.S. dollars (US$55 plus US$280); the posted exchange rate in effect at the time of your registration will be used to determine the final
fee in Canadian dollars. There is no refund on CD-ROM or DVD course materials for this program.

YOUR CAREER
The program prepares you to work with machines having complex hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, computer, programmable logic and electronic controls.
The skills acquired through this program enable you to install and test this type of equipment, advise on its maintenance and provide solutions to technical
problems related to control systems in general. The training and knowledge that you gain from this program enable you to work in fields such as industrial
maintenance, design and installation as well as technical services, technical sales and industrial research and development.
