Applying to the College through

What is ontariocolleges.ca

The ontariocolleges.ca processes applications for Ontario colleges. With one online form, you can apply for up to five programs. Up to three of these can be at any one college. For example, you could apply to three programs at George Brown and two at another college using the same application. The application is good for one complete academic cycle.

Most post-secondary programs require that you apply through ontariocolleges.ca. However, there are some programs for which you must apply directly to the College. See program pages for details.

If you are Deaf or hard-of-hearing, please refer to "Disability, Deaf and Hard of Hearing Services" for a description of the procedures to follow in order to obtain support services during the admission process.

Applicants with academic documents from outside Ontario must have them translated into English. All international documents must be evaluated by ICAS (through ontariocolleges.ca) or WES (wes.org/ca). We cannot accept international documents without an accompanying evaluation. Go to ontariocolleges.ca for more information.

How to Apply

To apply to a post-secondary program at George Brown College, follow these steps:

All applicants can apply online through ontariocolleges.ca or call the ontariocolleges.ca office at 519-763-2363 or 1-888-892-2228 to obtain a paper application form.

2 Complete the form and follow instructions for forwarding any required documents.

Mail the form and the fee ($95) (money order or certified cheque made payable to ontariocolleges.ca, or pay online by credit card) to: ontariocolleges.ca, 60 Corporate Court, Guelph, Ontario, Canada N1G 5J3.

Equal Consideration Date

To ensure that ontariocolleges.ca gets your application on time, apply online or mail it at least one week before February 1, 2010. If ontariocolleges.ca gets your application after this date, you will be considered on a first-come, first-serve basis if space in your program choice is available. The dates for this year are as follows.

September As soon as possible after November 1. For popular programs that fill quickly (sometimes called oversubscribed), applications must be received by February 1. Starting February 1, 2010, Offers of Admission for most applicants will start to be released.

January By August 31. The last week of September.

May By December 31. The last week of January.

Note: To allow more time for admissions testing, mature students should apply as soon as possible after November 1.

What happens next?

The College will send you an acknowledgement stating that your application was received. Later, we will let you know:

  • if you need to participate in any selection processes
  • whether you have been accepted into a program and how to confirm
  • how to register for your classes and placement testing

Offers of admission

Offers of admission include instructions on how to confirm online through ontariocolleges.ca. You may accept only one offer from the colleges you originally selected. See our website for details, or visit ontariocolleges.ca.

For those applicants who are enrolled in Grade 12 required subjects in their second semester, we will consider Grade 11 marks in the prerequisite subjects at 70 or higher for conditional acceptance.

Thank you for your patience

Every year more than 65,000 people apply to George Brown. This means that, at times, you may have to wait to have your phone call answered or to get service at our Student Service Centres. This is particularly true when there are deadlines to meet (February and July) or when classes are about to start (August, September and January).
