Student success in college requires well developed learning skills and attitudes (such as being able to work independently,
participate in a team, be well-organized, develop good work habits, and show initiative). These skills are as important as prior academic
achievement. Applicants should have thoroughly developed these skills and attitudes before beginning their college programs.

OUR PROGRAM
This program provides you with the skills and techniques necessary to begin a career in the jewellery industry. You will learn to saw, file, solder, grind, polish and finish metals including copper, brass, silver and gold. Fabrication and centrifugal casting techniques will be used to create jewellery pieces to high standards.
Jewellery history, technical drawing, gemmology and an overview of the industry are included to provide you with a broad knowledge of the jewellery field.
Many semester 2 courses have semester 1 prerequisites. Please consult with your faculty advisor or review the Jewellery Essentials curriculum planner posted on the website at georgebrown.ca/jewellery
While successful graduates who wish to continue their Jewellery education may apply for advanced standing in our other Jewellery diploma programs, it is strongly recommended that you apply for the program that best fits your career goals as space in the diploma programs is limited and may not be available.
This program is unique in the Greater Toronto Area.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Good eyesight (corrected vision is accepted), a high degree of manual dexterity, mechanical inclination, patience and initiative are the qualities necessary to succeed in this field.
PART-TIME STUDY OPTIONS
George Brown College also offers evening and weekend courses and certificate programs in Jewellery Skills. See the Continuing Education Course Guide at coned.georgebrown.ca (These are not equivalent to the full-time program).

"From the moment I applied to the program, I had very clearly defined goals. The instructors in the Jewellery Arts
program were instrumental in my skills development and played a critical role in preparing me to tackle my ambitions and plans. The foundation
built during my time at George Brown is sound and strong, and it enabled me to achieve my goals and set the newer, larger goals that I endeavour
to realize today."
