Nitin Jain

Marketing Management - Financial Services B406Graduated 2005

Nitin Jain came to Toronto from India seeking new challenges, adventures and learning experiences. "After completing my Bachelor of Commerce degree at Delhi University, I decided to come to Canada for postgraduate studies to enhance my academic skills," Jain says. "I came on my own as I don't have any friends or relatives here. I started everything from scratch." Less than two years later, the risks that Jain took are starting to pay off.

With a postgraduate certificate in Marketing Management - Financial Services from George Brown College and a full-time job on Bay Street, Jain, only 23 years old, has accomplished a lot in very little time.

Situated in the heart of Toronto's Financial District, Jain is putting his knowledge, skills and positive attitude to work as an Account Executive at Marcus Evans, an international company that specializes in producing global summits, business conferences and corporate marketing events.

Jain gives credit to George Brown's postgraduate program for teaching him about marketing management and for providing him with Canadian co-op work experience, which ultimately helped him get the job at Marcus Evans.

"George Brown College has a very good reputation in India and I strongly feel that it's the best educational institution," says Jain of his decision to attend George Brown College.  "Location was also a factor as the college is downtown and near the financial hub." Jain didn't have to worry for long about not knowing anyone in the city. The diversity and multiculturalism of the student body at George Brown allowed him to meet people from different countries, share experiences and make many new friends.

While Jain is happy with all that he has accomplished since coming to Canada, it is only the beginning as he hopes to study for an MBA in the next few years.

"My postgraduate certificate has provided me with a platform to pursue further education here," he says. It's a start to a life of learning new things and meeting new people that he urges others to consider. "For all international students, a postgraduate program is the best choice if they are looking to work in Canada. I strongly recommend George Brown College."
